Social Media is web content such as blogs and wikis, created by individuals or a collaboration of individuals. Often times, social media content is intended as the starting point for larger conversations.
Big Fish Marketing's Social Media strategy is broken into several groups each with their own distinct marketing approach:
a. Social Media / Aggregation
Clever or sticky content is developed covering the automotive industry. The content is used as a viral marketing tool to increase “votes” on social media and news aggregation portals like Digg, Reddit and StumbleUpon. This generates increased traffic from the se sites and encourages external links, leading to higher link popularity and search engine rankings.
b. Social Networking
Social Networking sites like MySpace and Facebook encourage users to define a large amount of information about themselves. This leads to the opportunity to target users based upon their demographics and self-defined interests as opposed to targeting users by keywords indicating their intent. Fun or useful content can also be developed and hosted on the Social Networking sites to build brand awareness and create interest around your products and services.
c. Reputation Management
Online Reputation Management is the process of tracking, reporting and reacting to content posted online relating to your business. Social Media content, Social Networking pages, WikiPedia and Blogs can be strategically used to dominate search results and push down competitor rankings, negative posts and rating sites. The Social Networks themselves also need to be monitored to ensure that the proper messaging is being distributed through “official” groups as opposed to user generated “unofficial” groups.
